A just about oops-proof,
Abaco Packing Checklist

WEBMASTER NOTE: I've been traveling to the Abacos for almost 20 years (as a house guest, hotel guest or "do-it-yourself" renter), and the following packing list is the end result of my occasional "short term memory failures" ... and almost 100 "Abaco Adventures".

While you may not be a list kind of person, you'd be amazed at the stuff that you "absolutely had to bring" and was left sitting home on your kitchen counter or coffee table (or dresser, etc. ... where you'd "never" forget it). Of course, we can't account for everything, but if you use this list as a starting point, and then add to it based on your own requirements, you'll vastly increase the liklihood of arriving in the Abacos with everything you need.

IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO STAY IN A "DO-IT-YOURSELF"-SELF-CATERING RENTAL:

  • Basic spices-condiments & fresh garlic if you use it (this stuff is expensive, usually stale and hard to find in the Abacos)
  • A sharp knife (pack in your CHECKABLE luggage or you'll have major problems at the airport scanner!!)
  • Corkscrew (also pack in your CHECKABLE luggage)
  • Small beach cooler and "blue ice"
  • Large cooler for roasts, chops, steaks - chicken is plentiful, inexpensive and of good quality in the Abacos - meats are not
  • Sausage and or bacon (breakfast & grilling)
  • Bricks-blocks of cheese
  • Hamburgers
  • Matches (for beach fire or candles)
  • Hot dogs (for beach fire cooking)
  • Portable radio (you can receive S. Florida AM stations during the day ... no U.S FM ever!!)
