Home of the legendary YAHOE, Lubbers is one of the least developed and most picturesque of all the Southern Abaco cays. Just a few boat-minutes (about 1-2 mile) south of the southern tip of Elbow Cay (right across from Tahiti Beach -- 10 boat-minutes from Hope Town and 25 boat-minutes from Marsh Harbour).
In addition to providing a habitat for the usually-friendly little YAHOE, Lubbers also offers a limited selection of secluded and very comfortable vacation homes. Until recently (mid-1999), Lubbers remained isolated from even the most basic of "creature comforts" like electricity. Now that Bahamas Electric has finally run undersea power lines to Lubbers, air-conditioned rentals have become a reality. For a true vacation hideaway ... a real "get-away-from-it-all" (without getting TOO far away), you won't find a better location than Lubbers Quarters.
A real estate "boomlet" over the past year has seen the population of Lubbers grow by several dozen happy (and very secluded) homeowners. Consequently, in the next month or two (by October 1999) Go-Abacos will be offering a few moresecluded rental accommodations for those who really want to get away from it all.
