Subject: 18th Annual Green Turtle Club Billfish Tournament, final day of fishing
Submitted by: Sue Graves, Tournament DirectorOnly five boats fished today out of the twenty in the fleet at the 18th Annual Green Turtle Clubís Annual Billfish Tournament. The other fifteen had already chosen to fish their three days and used today as their chosen lay day. Out of the five boats, four billfish were tagged (3 blues by The Sound Machine, Mongoose, ESP IV; and 1 white by Last Call ). The suspense mounted when the dock-side boats found out that the Captain Kidd II (Robert Weiss) had landed a blue marlin. The tournament minimum had been set at 102î, greater than in the years previous and much more than the required 97î. Robert Weissí fish was 102 ºî, weighed 323 pounds, and was his first blue ever. This marlin was the only one boated during the tournament.
Overall, the releases were as follows: 17 Blues, 5 whites and 3 sails.
